From the moment the fuel enters the super-efficient 3.0L 4P10 engine, to the last piece of the exhaust pipe, BlueTec dramatically reduces emissions without compromising power. There are three main stages of emission control:BlueTec. It’s really green.
Fuel is finely sprayed into the cylinders via a new Piezo injector, so it burns more completely. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) then returns any unburnt fuel and PM particles to the cylinder. The Diesel Particulate Filter, or DPF uses an oxidation catalyst and a silicon carbide filter to process the exhaust, greatly reducing pollutants. After the DPF has done its work; urea AdBlue solution turns harmful NOX emissions into nitrogen and water. AdBlue is essential to the BlueTec system and is available on 8.2 tonne models.Inside the engine
