All New FUSO Shogun

Stronger, Smarter, Safer – A New Standard

Forged over decades on Kiwi roads, the eighth generation of FUSO’s legendary Shogun sets the new standard for the modern fleet. With class-leading power, safety and performance the all-new Shogun range is unrivalled among its Japanese competitors.

Range highlights include:

  • New 530 horsepower (ps) engine option with 2,600Nm of torque: the most powerful Japanese truck available in New Zealand. Up to 4% improved fuel efficiency over the outgoing 510 model with a huge 570 horsepower Jacobs engine brake for superior braking power.
  • Euro 6: emissions compliance for cleaner, more environmentally responsible operation.
  • Class-leading safety tech on all models: Active Brake Assist 6, Sideguard Assist 2.0, Trailer Stability Assist and Front Blind Spot sensors join existing features.
  • Up to 1000kg lighter than direct Japanese and European competitors for superior payload.
  • Premium cab upgrades: NTS2 ISRI driver’s seat as standard (heated with leather trim for 530 models), plus new instrument cluster with larger 8” multimedia touchscreen unit.
  • Full LED lighting: enhanced visibility and sequential indicators across the range.
  • Enhanced aerodynamics: reduces fuel use and incorporates heritage design cues.
  • New 360 horsepower model: a lightweight, high-payload (45T GCM) option – ideal for tipper applications.

The next generation in heavy-duty Japanese trucking

Led by the all-new 530 hero model, the Gen 8 FUSO Shogun is unrivalled among Japanese trucks, says Fuso New Zealand General Manager Sales & Marketing Torben Freer.

“This is not only the best Shogun range we’ve ever bought to New Zealand; it’s the most advanced Japanese truck in the country,” said Freer.

“The 530 model particularly changes the stakes within its category, delivering a level of spec and capability that will impress existing operators of Japanese trucks and turn the heads of those who might traditionally look toward European models.”

Built for New Zealand operators

The eighth generation Shogun range builds on a proud heritage – established by the first heavy-duty FUSO trucks that clocked on for a tough, Kiwi work shift in the early 1970s.

Delivering on Shogun’s proven reputation for dependability, innovation and value for money, the new class-leading range features a strong mix of tractor, tipper and freight options specced to match almost any task, terrain and load – in 4x2, 6x2, 6x4 and 8x4 configurations, with GCM from 36T to 70T and power outputs from 360 to 530 horsepower.

At the top end, the 13-litre 530 variants bring unrivalled power and torque for improved productivity and lower fuel use than the outgoing 510 models.

New models include the FV2653K 6x4 Tractor, targeted at linehaul operators, which offers up to a 1,000kg kerb weight advantage over direct competitors combined with a 70T GCM capability.

At the other end of the power range, a new 360 model answers demand for a lightweight, high-payload tipper spec (45T GCM) with easy cab access.

More power for less fuel

The new 6R30T5 530 engine delivers more power and 100Nm more torque than the 510 model, spread across a wider band (950–1900rpm), with up to 4% better fuel economy. Its JP17 emission rating exceeds Euro 6.

This efficiency gain is delivered through:

  • Improved combustion and engine efficiency.
  • Wider torque spread, reducing the need for downshifts and allowing the engine to operate more efficiently under load.
  • Enhanced Jacobs engine brake (1400–2300rpm), reducing reliance on service brakes and supporting fuel savings on downhill runs.
  • Range-wide refinements to the ShiftPilot AMT to match engine upgrades and improve fuel consumption.
  • Redesigned, aerodynamic cab face and bumper, reducing drag by ~1.3%, contributing an additional 0.3% fuel saving.

The result is a truck that delivers more pulling power and lower operating costs – reinforcing Shogun’s position as one of the most efficient Japanese heavy-duty trucks on the market.

Class-leading safety and next-level comfort

Generation 8 Shogun introduces the most advanced safety features ever seen in a Japanese truck, including:

  • Active Brake Assist 6 – improved curve and multiple object detection.
  • Active Sideguard Assist 2.0 – upgraded to offer left and right-side blind spot protection.
  • Trailer Stability Assist and electric park brake.
  • New Front Blind Spot Information System.
  • These add to existing technology, such as Lane Departure Warning, Driver Fatigue Monitoring and Electronic Stability Control.

Inside every cab, drivers benefit from a top-of-the-line ISRI seat (heated with diamond-stitched leather trim in 530 models) and refreshed interior styling, with an improved instrument cluster and larger 8” multimedia touchscreen unit. Access has been made easier with ergonomically redesigned steps.

Full LED lighting with sequential rear indicators improve visibility for drivers and other road users.

Evolving spec, rising demand

Fuso New Zealand has committed to strong stock levels – available nationwide through Keith Andrews – ensuring operators can get behind the wheel of the new Shogun without long delays.

“There is already strong interest, with a number of units on pre-order,” said Freer. “Customers are as excited as we are by what this eighth generation Shogun has to offer – and we anticipate a lot more heads will be turned as news spreads about just how good these trucks are.”

Leading nationwide support

Gen 8 Shogun is backed by Fuso New Zealand’s 25-strong national aftersales and service network and comes with a five year / 500,000km warranty. Class-leading 24 month / 60,000km service intervals, coupled with efficiency upgrades across the whole range, contributes to a lower total cost of ownership that further demonstrates how Shogun raises the benchmark yet again.
