ACTIVE BRAKE ASSIST 6
One of the smartest, most capable crash prevention system ever fitted to a truck – ABA6 improves on ABA5 with greater precision and faster response. It combines a wider-angle radar and high-resolution camera to detect moving and stationary hazards across multiple lanes, including cyclists and pedestrians approaching from the sides– even through bends. It reacts earlier, with greater accuracy and automatically applies braking if needed to mitigate a collision.
ACTIVE SIDEGUARD ASSIST 2
Provides enhanced protection in busy environments. It uses radar mounted on both sides of the truck to monitor cyclists, pedestrians and vehicles on left and right lane-change blind spots. If it detects a collision risk during a left turn at low speed and the driver doesn’t respond after visual and audio warnings, it automatically applies the brakes.
FRONT BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM
Smart sensors monitor the space directly in front of the cab and warn the driver if if a moving pedestrian or bicycle is detected – especially useful in busy urban environments and at the depot.
TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST (TSA)
Trailer Stability Assist monitors vehicle speed, steering angle, accelerator and brake pedal stroke, plus estimated vehicle mass and trailer brake temperature, to automatically apply the trailer brakes to prevent jackknifing. It can be activated by the driver when negotiating slippery conditions.
LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM
LDWS operates at speeds over 60km/h to reduce the risk of lane departure accidents caused by distraction or fatigue.
A camera behind the windscreen detects lane markings and triggers visual and audio alerts if the vehicle crosses without the indicator deployed or an intended steering wheel movement.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)
ESC employs a steering sensor and yaw rate sensor to detect loss of control or the onset of rollover. This information is relayed to the ESC controller, which reduces engine torque and applies appropriate brake force to individual wheels to aid steering control and improve stability.
PROXIMITY CONTROL ASSIST (ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL)
Automatically adapts the truck’s speed through accelerator and brake control to maintain safe proximity to the vehicle in front.
The system incorporates a stop-and-go function, which brings the truck to a complete stop if the vehicle in front stops and slowly pulls away when the vehicle in front starts to move ahead. This technology has huge benefits in stop/go traffic and helps reduce driver fatigue.
ACTIVE ATTENTION ASSIST (DRIVER FATIGUE MONITORING)
This system employs a range of inputs from monitoring steering behaviour, the truck’s path between lane markings and the driver’s head position and eye movement to register signs of driver fatigue and issue an alert if these are detected.
8” TOUCHSCREEN MEDIA UNIT WITH REVERSING CAMERA
Gen 8 Shogun’s larger touchscreen relays images from the high-definition, infrared reversing camera with up to five additional camera feeds as optional extras. Steering wheel controls ensure safe operation when driving, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility enable hands-free talking text-to-speech functionality. The unit is also compatible with other approved phone apps such as Google Maps and Spotify.
ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) WITH TRAILER BRAKE
Shogun is the only Japanese truck with an Electric Parking Brake, providing an additional level of safety alongside ease and comfort of operation. If the driver forgets to engage the simple EPB switch and lever, it will automatically engage to prevent the truck from rolling away. The trailer brake is also integrated into the EPB.
